Welcome to Broadfork.
We are a sustainable, diversified, solar-powered, family farmstead
practicing regenerative agriculture and keeping the homesteading arts alive.
Enjoy
Explore our menu of fresh baked breads, bright jams and pickles, beautiful eggs in a riot of pastel colors, or try a sea salted caramel, made with fresh milk from our goats. We also offer seasonal fruits and vegetables, and limited quantities of pastured chicken, pork, and goat. Fresh goats’ milk is available at the farm by special order from June through March. Dry beans, herb packets to make our signature lavender lemonade and boursin cheese spread are also available year round. Come at the right time, and treat yourself to foraged foods like ramps, fiddleheads, and seasonal mushrooms. Catch us at the farmers’ markets in Hardwick and Greensboro in summer, and Montpelier in winter!
Learn
The only thing we love more than practicing the homesteading arts, is teaching them! Come for a class, a day- or week-long mentoring visit, or ask about custom apprenticeship opportunities. Learn to preserve foods by canning, freezing, drying, pickling, and fermenting. Learn to make cheese, bake a variety breads using sourdough or yeast, or try your hand at crafting botanical remedies. We also offer lessons and work-study days in gardening, regenerative husbandry, season extension, keeping small scale livestock, and wild foraging. Work while you learn, enjoy an on-farm meal, and all instruction time is free of charge. We are also happy to work-exchange for lodging or camping.
Stay
Enjoy a farm stay in a converted short bus, with comfortable accommodations, and a beautiful view of the hills of Greensboro. Close to Caspian Lake beach, Barr Hill nature area, the Willey’s Store, and Hill Farmstead brewery. The bus features two chairs that convert to twin size beds. Bring your own fitted sheet and pillow or sleeping bag, or borrow our fresh, crisp linens for a small laundry fee. Electricity and WiFi, and an outdoor hot shower are available. Breakfast or picnic baskets with our own farm products and curated local delicacies are available upon request. Take a class, or enjoy an educational work-stay while you’re here. Tent and car camping and backwoods sites are also available.
